Hospitality & Catering Apprenticeships
Our comprehensive job related training programme provides you with an outstanding introduction to working in a Hospitality or Catering role.
The training we offer is accredited by the Open College Network and staff working in guestcare or support roles have the opportunity to gain the nationally recognised Apprenticeship in Hospitality as well as a range of Key Skills and NVQ awards.
All training is delivered by our internal training team who work closely with educational bodies to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest training syllabuses.
A variety of training methods are used but as these are vocational qualifications, the emphasis will focus on 'on the job' learning, where you take time to reflect on your achievements and record your key learning milestones.
At PGL, we firmly believe in 'growing our own' and many people who join us as a Catering Assistant will progress to be our Chefs and Head Chefs of the future thanks to our Apprenticeship programmes.
Whilst some employers will only accommodate employees who meet certain age or nationality requirements on apprenticeship programmes, PGL is pleased to fund staff team members who fall outside of this usual selection criteria if you can demonstrate the talent and commitment we're looking for.
We offer three main levels of training programme to help you get to where you want to be in your career. Please click on the programme title to find out more:
The PGL Apprentice Programme>
For our staff joining us with little or no previous industry experience. This free training scheme gives you the practical skills and confidence to succeed in your new role and also means you're eligible to apply for a place on the nationally-recognised Apprenticeship in Hospitality.
Intermediate Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hospitality>
For returning members of staff or those who show excellent motivation and aptitude to start in their first season. This course can be completed in one full season and features specialist modules that link to PGL's job roles, including food preparation, drinks service, kitchen services, front office and professional cookery.
On completion, this programme will give you a nationally-recognised qualification, awarded by City and Guilds and People 1st, that's yours for life - and doesn't cost you a penny!
Advanced Level 3 Apprenticeship in Hospitality>
For our staff team members working in supervisory roles, focusing on advanced hospitality and leadership. This programme takes up to two seasons to complete and is for our Head Chefs, Catering Managers, Retail/Bar Supervisors and Housekeeping Supervisors.
Again, on completion, this programme equips you with a nationally-recognised qualification, awarded by City and Guilds and People 1st, absolutely free of charge.
You must be employed by PGL to be eligible for a place on our Apprenticeship programme. PGL is not a training service provider, i.e. you cannot pay to go on a training course organised by PGL if you are not employed by us.
